Regardless of who presents it,Top Gear is a product that is produced to appeal to a certain type of person.Its visual mush,what did people expect with the new series?Intelligence and depth?Boorish/laddish nonsense more like.

Of course, you can like it or not like it, that's your choice. But to snobbishly insult those who enjoy it as "a certain type of person" says a lot about you.

A-have a meeting and discuss/make a programme that is humorous,informative and witty or
B-have a meeting and discuss/make a programme that intentionally appeals to the lowest common denominator and endeavours to manifest hidden prejudices.Really,its a shabby dated show that should`ve been shelved long,long ago.A throwback to the 1970s.

For what it is worth I agree with a lot of the sentiment on this thread. I think it was a shabby stunt, in a (let's say) sacred place - I for one am not turned on by burn-outs, and even if I were not in Whitehall by the Cenotaph.

The buck should stop with someone in the council, the BBC whoever...perhaps they should both make a donation to a military charity as a gesture.

Overreaction by anti fun brigade. The monument was not damaged or abused in any, it got some free publicity.

I for one, cannot imagine the horror of seeing a comrade/friend shot or blown up in front of me. The Cenotaph represents a focal point for the survivors of conflict throughout the years, to come together and pay their respects to those that have fallen.
Irrespective of your views on those conflicts.
Not that they're forgotten for the rest of the year, but to give support to one another,giving comfort to those that have painful memories of conflict.

If these people have to fanny about in a car, they should do it on private land where it won't cause offence.
But that wouldn't get them publicity would it!

Maybe so but theyve given publicity to the cenotaph and to what it represents, otherwise its only ever mentioned one day in november.
