This is summer?


A grey and indifferent morning. Head down, ploughed on. Purely functional ride in. No record breaking achievements this morning.

It chucked it down on the way home. It's surprising just how terrifyingly ineffective v brakes can be in the wet...

I decided to dispense with the ebike for todays ride to work - downhill there & I was picking my van up from the garage at the bottom of the climb back on the way home so a useful ride to wean myself back on to self powered cycling. The ride was my 1999 Orange Evo2 that I rebuilt in January before my ankle op. Didn't miss a beat on its maiden voyage. River in the pics is the Tyne.

Getting there thanks. Swelling is main problem but expected for first year. Slowly getting strength & range of movement back.

I've done worse, although that was just a privateer. The one above is a racelite. In my defence the panniers are full of sausages.

Today the weather got better as the day grew long. Coming home was lovely. Bit overdressed led to hot and bothered.

This is the old Morphy Richards factory at Swinton. They used to manufacture many of their products here. My mum worked here for a while when I was a kid. All it does now is store goods shipped in from China. Some would argue they're also better made now.

Wait. Sausages you say? Well, that's different. The sausage defence is always valid.

20 mile trip on the singlespeed, by the east coast here in Jutland, Denmark. Wonderful sunny trip.
