Titus Motolite

I'm sure most of us have been there. A quick ebay surf on a boring winter evening, spot something nice, put on a happy-go-lucky bid, and end up winning it! Introducing my newly acquired Titus Motolite...

It came with a rather dull and scruffy metallic grey paint job, so I got the paint stripper out to raw it (my finish of choice! ;) ) The front triangle was perfect under the paint, it really looked like it had just come off of a Terminator set. The seat and chain stays needed oven-cleaner treatments to remove the shine.

Here she is waiting to be built. It'll be a functional build using parts I have at hand, but hopefully have some kind of style too.

wow!

is the blue King going to stay? (i think it should)

looking forward to see this progress

Yep, the King is staying
Thought I'd go for a blue theme since most of my builds seem to end up with red...

blue is good - you can get blue alloy and Ti bolts as well as blue carbon fibre headset spacers.

strange you got the frame to balance like that, would have expected the front to tip it over .... maybe it;s the camera angle

If you look closely, you'll see that the disc brake tab is hooked under the kitchen cupboard ;)

"Bare alloy, finish of choice", lovely, I have always like titus frames.
How does the finish hold up, does it corrode? I have just paint stripped my alloy commuter bike. I wondered if I had done a silly thing with leaving bare alloy open to road salt and dirt.

So... Just for Lee ;) and anyone else interested, I finally got round to taking the Motolite out today.

It was a baptism of fire, or to be more precise, ice, for both the Motolite and myself. The trails in Sweden are still half covered in snow and ice, making interesting riding. When I wasn't getting pulled off line by mushy snow, I was slipping off on ice patches... Ahhh, the joys of spring!

However the Titus has answered my prayers - a fairly light, but very chuckable trail machine. Can't wait to really rip on it after toying a little with the front/rear balance, and on thawed trails.

The pics (yes, that's a puncture in the first):
