Hi Folks,

I’ve recently taken delivery of a Kona Hei Hei.

Now the frame is in a good condition but does have a few cable rub marks etc.

I may be able to get hold of some NOS decals for the beast and if I do would like to refinish the frame.

I believe that the “raw” finish of the frame is akin to brushing but would be keen to find out more from people who have restored titanium.

Many thanks in advance.

Mark

+1 for the scotchbrite pad. Used it on every ti frame I've owned. I then follow up with a quick brasso polish so that it doesn't look too raw and then wash and polish.

Rub the green scrubbie "around" the tubes - Not straight along their length.
...But I guess you knew that already, from the existing brushed finish.

Photos when it's done.

You don't seem convinced Mark

Does the job and even better for once the answer is cheap and easily available

Just make sure you leave the missus one for doing the pans ;)

This is taken from the Merlin website

Surface scratches can be removed with Type A (very fine) ScotchBrite, which is available in most hardware stores. Cut the ScotchBrite into a strip and polish the frame lightly with straight strokes perpendicular to the tube. To renew the frame's luster, apply a thin coat of household polish or wax with a soft towel
