I bid on a complete Basso mtb not too long ago (in the U.S.) and the closing bid was pretty reasonable--less than what that frame is going for at the moment, if my memory is correct.

As for the appropriate build--I'd run pretty much what I would run for a Litespeed from the mid 90s. Of course, a Marzocchi would add a nice Italian touch.
