tiagra 4500 hubs or claris

i have just bought some wheels which have tiagra 4500 hubs and mavic cxp22 rims
the tiagra has a 7 speed cassette on can this be changed for an 8 and also would i benefit from putting claris hubs on to match the rest of the groupset

Check the Tiagra for a spacer as I'm sure Tiagra was always 8/9spd

and no, Claris is the same or no better than Tiagra
