I realised that even the 'new' parts that I was fitting to this today are from around 2010

Thats 11 years ago

So, this 1994 bike has absolutely nothing in common with a 2021 - lets for arguments sake say - Trek X-Caliber9 which is about £1275 and a low to mid range bike these days

Nothing, excepts maybe I can put air in my fork

1994 Hookooekoo, mid range American made steel - 3x9spd, road cassette, 44t chainring, v-brakes, 60mm travel fork, 1 1/8 straight steerer, 130mm stem, 25.4mm bars

and 26'' 9mm QR wheels

I dont even think the external BB on the Fisher will fit the Trek.

Just maybe the grips though and the saddle.

The Fisher is an everyday rider so its trails and Thetford and a here and a there. I would struggle with that Trek and I'm sure a rider used to the Trek would have an equally hard time with mine

Oh and this only came about because I had to put air in my Rond Quake for the first time since pumping them up in 2018

Not sure the trek is a low end bike really, and would be really surprised if any rider struggled on either, both decent, but you are right about the changing standards. And not even 10 years, in just last 5 years things have changed hugely

It just looks wrong because of the rose tint to your spectacles, try a different prescription

Funnily enough in the alternative colourway it’s positively retro!
