Alright - lets hope these links work.

I was in the shed trying to work out how to sell the news that the kids buggy has to take up house space because the shed is full of an old bike and three older ones in parts, and it seemed easier to tit around with the said frames.

Each frame given the time-honoured fingernail ting test so you can compare Tange prestige, Ishiwata Cro-mo, Reynolds 531 and Reynolds 531?.

For me the Hobbs is the most melodic, although the Stumpie suffers from having bits attached to it while the others hang free as naked frames.

well that's a first, but I have to say I quite enjoyed that! My favourite is the Fuji

My favourite at home is my Orange X1 - it has a high pitched ring that lasts for ages The DB Axis is quite similar, yet my RSP with 853 tubing is more of a dull thunk. :roll:

Fuji sounded the best for me, That claud butler sounded like it was made out of old steam pipe

What a great post, very entertaining
For me it was the Hobbs, lovely resonance to it, closely followed by the Fuji...a little shrill by comparison. Then the Stumpjumper.
As for the Claud.....try it again, for me.........but with an angle grinder this time :roll:

The Claud certainly suffers musically by comparison, but has nice curly lugs so will be forgiven and fed on some retro light bits to cheer it up.


I'd love to hear a MAX OR frame or something made out of Prestige Ultralight.

Mt Fuji was the brightest, the backing track of birds helps beautifully!

This is cool! Reminds me of when we used to hit the local bike shops back in my teens and annoy the crap out of the owners by flicking tubes, lifting up bikes to see how light they were, changing gears etc. Still prone to doing it today, like how the ting fades out on butted steel frames (which is why I've had so many)
