Sony CRF-220

13kg of huge 'portable' from 1974. Mint condition with no signs of wear or loss of function through age.

The original sales receipt shows the price at £290 plus £29 in VAT - various online inflation calculators put this to be between £2.5k and £3.5k in todays money...

Yikes.

This is the West Germany model due to the CRF-230 having an (at the time) illegal extra FM band of 64mHz to 88mHz which covered the emergency services/ military bands:

Found the fault today anyway, the drivers on the output of the EQ stage - one completely short circuit, the other partly failed so I've been busy buying obsolete transistors today!

Afternoon All

I have recently retreived my Marantz CD85 from the loft and it looks like it might need some tlc - the drawer is slow to open / close. Can these be serviced please?

Slow mechanism is usually thickening of the grease they use on the plastic parts in the open / close mechanism. I'd just clean off the old grease and it'll be fine. There's enough lubrication on the nylon parts for it to continue to work properly.

help, I didn't know where to ask so I hope here will do. I need to set up a fan in my greenhouse. I have a problem with mould, im thinking air circulation will help and I have no power nearby so

The solar panel would probably power the fan, in bright sunshine at least, but I don't think a tiny 4" fan is going to do much. Sat on your desk it might cool your face a little, but it won't shift anywhere near enough air to circulate the air in a room sized space. A large oscillating 16" pedestal fan, or perhaps one of those tower fans might be more suitable, but obviously they'd need to be plugged into the mains.

Is their no access to mains electricity from the greenhouse?
