The HiFi chat, build and modification thread!

Re:

Oh no!!! I seem to have turned this into a proper hi-fi thread :D

Certainly agree that there has been an improvement in technology over the last 30 years but i'm such stick in the mud that i've never even heard an SACD

LGF - do you also sleep upside down?

Apache - £3 for a cd  I myself have a £1 limit which i never seem to stick to...

And yes i run a brewery in North Warwickshire....even did a retro beer a couple of years back - viewtopic.php?f=8&t=200641&start=20

You're not Church End brewery are you? Frequently on at The Wyche Inn up on the hills near me?

Regards SACD, I must admit to not being able to hear any difference between CD and SACD, or perhaps the SACD players I've heard need a little work...

Got a Technics SL1500 today, gorgeous cosmetic condition but doesn't go round. It's an easy fix on these Technics DDs though. Came with a Shure M75ED with brand new original stylus. Have put it on my PL112D, through the Audiolab, and it sounds mighty fine!

Not the owner, I just run it. Spencer13 on the MTB section also works there. Wyche Inn is a great customer as is Three Kings in Hanley Castle. Like the idea of beer payment, I may well be in touch again :)

LGF - didn't know that about cd's and patents. How long before DVD patents run out?

not the foggiest, blu-ray is where its at anyway then instant downloads/ cloud based

Do love a bit of bluray...can't believe in the early 90's that Alien on anamorphic widescreen VHS was the greatest thing I'd ever seen!

.....Have to say Head-Fi is full of wnakers and snake-oil though (my wire's better than your wire - my wire sounds better now I've dipped it in liquid nitrogen etc), and I suspect I would find myself banned within a short space of time also....

Hallo chaps....is it too late to join in ?.....have only just discovered this thread and the above quote IMHO is worth putting on a t-shirt :D .....valve man myself....Quad II system that makes me go wow every time I put a record on....and unlike some on Head Fi I have never spent a single second of my life analyzing the quality of the silence between tracks
