Retro Newbie
i'm fairly new to all this retro mtb stuff and am seriously wanting to build the bike i couldnt afford way back when,

can anyone offer some info and advice about spooky bikes please?

i've found a bit about frank the welder from the net but cant find any pics of the bikes/frames anywhere,

cheers in advance for any help,

I used to ride with the kid that just bought them. Micky something-or-other... went to Hampshire college while I was at UMass

Solid bikes. They were under-hyped for quality, but over-priced for aluminum.

Frank The Welder, there can be only one

Hey,
What do you want to know? Somewhere under an older login I posted a pretty darn concise history of the company... I'll see if I can dig it up again.

These days it just me (mickey) in the shop here full time in Western MA. My buddy Niall helps up a bunch on the fabrication end, and we also work with Sapa in Portland Oregon for our production 6061 stuff (they already draw the tubing we use their, so having them do their excellent fabrication work for production bikes is a no-brainer)

For the re-launch, after unsuccessfully trying to work with a UK distributor we are going it alone, or close to alone with a few special relationships with individuals and shops in the UK. Within the next week or so we will have our new, new website launched with info on getting new Spooky stuff (and old stuff, like stickers, replacement parts etc) in the UK!

Currently we are focusing on road and xc bikes, as it's just so much easier to sell an $800+ bike in that market, but we are just finishing up the drawings for revision 4 of the new Metalheads and Pitbosses and even a 150mm trail bike.

Personally, have been invloved with Spooky since '95, first as a team rider and shop grom, and after trying to turn every other bike company I worked for into Spooky I got the greenlight to get things going again...

It's been hands down the hardest, and most rewarding year or so of my life!

That's what I call straight from the horse's mouth!

Nice looking steeds - love the kittenpaste. Good luck in the UK
