Hi Guys,

I'm part way through a retro weightweenie build, I've got most of what I need, but realised I have no idea what stems weigh!

I got a nice syncros that weighs in at a whopping 200g... are there lighter stems out there? I know a zooka weighs about the same, but that's the extent of my knowledge!

So, Anyone offer any advice?

plenty of modern stuff down around the 120-150g mark. of course it depends a bit on length

my merlin is 20.6lbs with a thomson stem (200gish) and a syncros post, again not the lightest, but i like them for their strength.

My 90mm Zooka with Ti bolts is around 150g but they are hard to come by in short lengths. Look out for a Ti stem perhaps :)

Ahead or Quill ?

What sort of length, good old 130mm ?

Any pics of your syncros as they chained weight with year.

1 1/8" ahead, Aye, 120-140mm is good. I've one of the earlier syncros with the single piece clamp.

...and I've just found out that the clamp isn't a good match with my controltech bars - the clamp is too wide... :(

Perhaps a Specialized Ti stem - not sure of weight or exact age but if you want to keep retro they do come up on evilbay - I managed to pick up a NOS one a while back and it was fairly cheap.

Here's an example (although it is a used one); http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Specialized-T ... 336742ddbc

Happy hunting

MRC I would say...

I had a quill MRC stem of 145x0°x1" (see picture) that weighed 163gms (with little tuning)...

I know they made 'm in Ahead in lengths of 135 and 145.. and I would like to believe that these are a lot lighter than my quill stem..

...the only thing... they are quit rare... :?
