Well after many years collecting all the right ingredients (about 9 yrs actually) I have just built up a 90 Stumpy with the Suntour Browning Front mech/crank setup. Just finished and took it for the obligatory round the block test (its after midnight). Wow, wow wow.
When I put it all together I noticed that most of the plastic parts are of a very brittle plastic (luckily I have multiple spares) but all the metal parts are pretty close tolerance and good quality. I was dying to see how it worked and it is so smoooooth its unbeliveable. I had to look twice to see it had shifted . There can be some delay due to it only shifting at one point but there is no noise and no feeling of being between gears. Seriously slick. I have my doubts about durability given it took forever to get the solonoid correctly adjusted and I'd bet dirt is not kind to that part at least.
More tests and pics to come
