Hyper light steel Tange Sunn Xcircuit in 14 inch frame with 56 virtual tt length. Difficult to date since the frame has nice details not in any catalogue bike - cowled dropouts like Ritchey, beautiful finish on the welds. Non disc frame, suspension corrected for 410 a-c fork length. This makes it an early one I think. Made up into an 11 kg catalogue bike but we made it up lighter than that without difficulty.

This is in a well-used frame with quite a bit of scraping etc to the decals. But a few nice touches such as Onza sticker and original Sunn steel is real decal. A lot of the peculiar French small stickers there which is nice.

It rides brilliantly, like a contemporary Cotic or a historic Bontrager, it’s a lovely little thing - great for kids in this size.

Bb and mech thread perfect. No cracks dings or dents. It comes with cane creek headset, seatpost and seatclamp. We’ve been using a heavy GT steel rigid fork, which we’ll include with the frame. Heavy but perfect geometry for it. There are some bikes which just feel ‘right’ and this is one of them.

Re:

Thanks - drat I assumed that without disc brake tabs on the rear it had to be earlier than that. Gosh Orange were putting rear disc tabs on loads earlier than ‘99. I ought to get it moved over to post ‘97.

Re:

Is the 14 inch from centre of bb to where seat tube leaves frame??

If not what is that measurement please.

Looks larger than 14 in pics our night just be camera angle...

Thanks

Re:

My old frame!! Lovely little thing, it was 16" centre to top, and weighed 2150gms with the headset and seat collar on. Unusual in that it had the original head badge still intact, along with the 'bubble' decals...

I added the 'steel is real' sticker ;)

I've an 18" one of those sat in the garage I also need to sell. Anyone after a slightly larger version then let me know :)

Sorry if I high jacked the thread...

Re:

Like Clockwork ... Ah .. I thought the Steel is Real was an original thing! Many thanks for this ... a Very Fine Thing.....

The frame has been absolutely wonderful. We made it up with a really solid group set and the Grom has used it alongside some really contemporary bikes and has loved it, but now sadly outgrown. It’s just a bit too small for me, but big enough for me to have ridden it in anger. Brilliant frame and Sunn is much overlooked in my view. As I mentioned, rides like a modern COTIC or an older MARIN Team steel - that is, fast, light, forgiving, and you can throw it around with complete confidence.

It’s exactly 35 cms centre bb to actual centre TT
It’s exactly 41 cms centre bb to top of seat tube
It’s 56 cms virtual TT length

That makes it roughly a 14 inch frame actual bb to centre TT or roughly 16 inch bb to seat tube top.

As LikeClockWork mentioned, it’s great that it has the original weird head tube badge - and the bubble TT stickers.

Steel is indeed Real - Tange, 853 and Columbus.....

Re:

Thank you. If it was bigger I’d have it but sadly a tad small...

I have a earlier Xircuit and agree with how they look and ride. Super frames!

Good luck with the sale.

Re:

Good luck with the sale, I would have it back in a heartbeat, I even have a decent set of forks for it (although they are in use on another bike!) It's just present financial circumstances, and a lack of prospects for work, long term, mean I really must get out in the workshop and find some things to sell, not buy more...
