2.35 Halo choirmasters. Great tyre Have them fitted to the Saracen and they’ll stay on there. Used them on the repack ride and I’d say they’re perfect for moors where you’ve got gritty tracks, rocks and grass. Not used them in any wet, greasy wooded areas yet.( N.B - Rob i didn’t worry about them once on that ride. As for mud, the only bit i remember was at the end and they pulled through that fine. by then it was me that was the weak link not the bike) Big tyre though, don’t be fooled by the fact there in a steel frame, my Saracens got huge clearance and they probably sit at a real 2.1 - they were too big to fit in a uni crown fork I have anyway. A lot lighter than say an old 2.3 Tioga Factory downhill but then they’re not nearly as knobbly, as the tread patterns very open. What knobs they do have are only shallow and have chamfered edges. I’d say they are a large volume xc tyre, and think they’d be quite lively fitted to a more modern machine. Oh and they were only £25.00 a pop..
I wonder if any you other chaps who ordered them from H&S Bike-Discount GmbH after I started this thread have received your tyres yet?
ETA Well they've finally turned up and I must say it's thanks to Deutsch Post/DHL. They left Germany by Deutsch Post and transfered to Parcel Force in the UK. Unfortunately those bozo's couldn't figure out the German way of formating an address; street before number and post code before town. Not difficult to decypher but too much for your average UK delivery driver so they sent the parcel back to the depot where it sat for 3 x weeks and they were about to send it back to Germany - unbelievable!
Fortunately I chased Deutsch Post who tracked it to North Acton depot where I managed to intercept it and get it redelivered.
Just seen these for a more palatable £17+postage for a pair. Anyone have any experience with Kenda? If there's any parallel with car tyres, Khumo are 'good' now...
