Strange Pinarello seat post issue

Retro Newbie
Hello,

I recently bought an old Pinarello Montello and found the seat post to be stuck in the frame. Through the application of oil and a lot of brute force I managed to get it loose. As it came out a small, broken metal ring which had been on the seat post fell off.
I cleaned the muck and rust off the seat post and inside the seat tube as best I could and now without this ring, no matter how tight I turn the binder bolt it will not hold the seat post in place. There is a small space between the seat tube and the seat post. Has anyone heard of this extra ring or does that sound like something the previous owner improvised themselves?

I'm almost certain the saddle is the original although the seat post itself may not be. I have pictures if that would help. Any advice anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot

Sound like someone has adapted a smaller seat post to fit with some sort of shim, have you got any other seat posts of a larger size you can test fit? Is there a size staked on the one you took from the frame?

Re:

I have tried another seat post in their and it fits well. I think I'll buy a wider one. There seem to be plenty available that will do the job.

My Pinarello binder bolt has snapped so I've been using a different one. Does anyone know of a good source for the original Pinarello seat post bolts?

Should be a 27.2 post.

Those bolts are impossible to find. I've been looking for one for years.

I have only seen them with frames.
