Stolen Raleigh Equator Edinburgh

Doorbundle

Retro Newbie
My son, up until recently the proud and happy owner of an Equator in good condition, has had it stolen from outside his digs in Thirlestane Road, Marchmont, Edinburgh overnight 24/25 September 2012.

I understand that production of the Equator was fairly limited within around 1996.
Does anyone have knowledge of the broad range of frame numbers in which his bike may fall, to assist in the event of its recovery?

The bike is very original equipmentwise, a Raleigh 'Equator' with Burgundy/ Mirror Red paintwork as per the Raleigh leaflets (Raleigh Action Bikes web link to follow- forum rules), there are some age related scratches to the frame/decals but the decals are legible.
Frame size is 21" or 22" (Mens) Frame.
Saddle is Selle Italia synthetic anatomical design.
OE 26" Alloy 'square section rims. Possibly Rigida?
New Schwalbe 'Black Jack' puncture resistant Front and Rear Tyres.
Recently fitted (New) plain gloss black enamelled Raleigh Front Forks.
Newly fitted Front + Rear Derailleur Black sheathed cables.
Black Plastic Mudguards fitted to Rear seat pillar and Front Diagonal Down tube.
The Front Diagonal Down tube is marked where the clamp of my bike carrier has scored the frame.
The bike was serviceable, rather than pretty!
I spent most of the summer working on it!
I have the frame number at home in a 'Safe place'
Sod's Law dictates that I cannot yet locate that safe place!

Reposted from the Raleigh Action Bikes site with acknowledgements.
Thanks for any assistance.

hi

i live just outside edinburgh but work all over the toon so i'll keep my eyes open for you  i kinda look at every bike i pass so if i see it i'll know it 8)

I'm in Morningside so will keep a look out. Was it locked up in the stair well or outside? It's the time of year for it with the students back in town. I had my Kona nicked from outside Joseph Pearce pub on Leith Walk :( Buggers took bolt cutters to the padlock and bundled it into a van (my best guess) tried everywhere but alas, gone - probably a whole van-full sent to some other town. Saying that, we found a bike in a hedge in our back garden and managed to track down the owner so not all stories are doom 'n gloom :) Will keep the peepers peeled.

P.s. In the interim as a stop gap, The Bicycle Station do cheap Bikes every Tuesday morning - got to get there early as there's usually a queue out the door...
