Hello everyone, I wanted to share with you my new Specialized, it is a 1988 Stumpjumper Team in original colour, rescued after a lifetime in the basement :)

Stunning. That looks nice and original. I never really understood those chainstay mounted U brakes though. I had a much more humble 1988 Hardrock back then and I remember the chain was forever getting hung up on the chainstay mounted rear brake on rough ground.
 
That’s lovely. Very original (although mine came with Specialized GX26 bronze coloured rims). I’ve only seen a handful of these on here in almost 20 years. Interestingly, some of the details across models are different - especially around the seat stay: some are embossed with an S; some proud; yours smooth. Last of the lugged steel teams - beautifully made in Japan. Will get my vote.

Definitely weren't best suited to muddy UK terrain but they were super powerful down below, with pretty much zero stay flex on the stays. Visually they give lovely clean lines on the seat stays too.

in reality the originals are Araya RM-20 first series bronze, unfortunately a bit worn and for the photos I preferred black rm
