OK, so we could do with a little help, current 1x11 setup isn't quite working how Our Jimmy would like it;

Cassette: Shimano Deore XT CS-M8000 11-46t, 2018
Chain: Shimano Deore XT CN-HG701
Cranks: Shimano Deore XT M8000, 2018
Chainrings: Shimano Deore XT M8000 34t T&F 1x11, 2018
The problem is he's only using 8,9,10 & 11 and "running out of gears" he only uses maybe 6 or 7 on the steepest of climbs, 1-5 are redundant. I'm guessing this setup was designed more for 29” wheels or old tired heavy men, not super fit 14yr olds on 26" wheels?
So, I’m looking for a larger front ring 36, 38 or maybe even 40t? but thick & thin for the 1x11 Deore XT FC-M8000 crank
Any suggestions?
