Why do sellers do this? I (very politely) asked a seller if there was some kind of benefit (time, money, sales hype, etc.) to listing items this way, but I never got an answer. This particular seller has over 1300 items listed on eBay at the moment, and sooner or later those listings contain pics.

What’s the point? Am I missing something? Are there a lot of sellers doing this?

They take advantage of eBay’s offers on sales discounts Frank. They normally last for a weekend so they get in a load of listings and then edit them at their leisure

Place holders for when special offers are on. Just edit listing and still offer compliant.

I guess I know who this seller is. If it’s the same guy he once told me that someone takes pictures for him and not always on time. Eventually he swaps the text by real pictures. It’s a good seller. Don’t know about others.

Listing lots if items takes time to clean/photo so it can be a struggle to get them done over a weekend. Typically you get 100 and that’s a big amount for anyone to list.
