Entobiker
Dirt Disciple
Hi Retrobikers
Unfortunately, my beloved classic bike is becoming the victim of an N-1 drive. I have had this bike for three years after building it up from a late 80's Viking donor bike and the Scapin frame bought from this forum. It's been my commuter but I have to admit, it just isn't the most suitable bike for Edinburgh's gnarled and grimy winter streets. I'd love to keep it for Scotlands summer day, but I live in a small flat, so it has to go. It rides beautifully as is, it's been well looked after by me (a somewhat capable mechanic), nothing's seized, but expect an enthusiast will probably want to fix it up.
Frame: Scapin Sprint 1984 or 1985, Columbus zeta tubing (although could be Allez after some further research), 54cm C-T and a 55cm TT (effective). Judging by the pantographing and lugs this is the closest match I've found in three years of research: https://www.steel-vintage.com/scapin-cl ... 80s-detail
I bought it painted by the previous French owner in garish 80's colour scheme but stripped and painted it back to a more original colour. You can see the original condition here:http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... p;t=303284 It's now deep metallic red, however, as with all home spray jobs (lesson learned) it hasn't lasted well and the next owner will probably want to respray. It's down to primer in a lot of places and a tiny bit of surface rust has formed on the inside of the chainstay (see pic). Forks in very good condition, chrome still great, minor corrosion inside top of the crown.
Group: Campagnolo Victory S3, all very good condition, brand new chain and newish campag brake pads (NOS), runs really well. I have a spare NOS brake hood which I will throw in too.
Wheels: Front is a Suntour hub on a Mavic rim. The rim has seen better days and is quite worn but is still running nice and true. The rear is a Rigida rim on an unknown hub. Good condition, true, just a bit weighty for a bike of this calibre. New 7 speed freewheel. Tyres are cheap and not in the best condition (see pic) It deserves a better wheelset and I would be doing that myself if it weren't being sold.
Finishing kit: Rolls saddle, Cinelli cockpit, Zeus seat post, new Deda bar tape, Shimano pedals with Christophe cages.
£280
Happy to post at buyers expense or collection in Edinburgh.
I will consider splitting as a last resort.
