Solar shed lights

Has anyone tried any good solar powered lights for their shed? I’m not looking for hours of task lighting or anything like that. Just something that will allow me to find things after dark without having to point a torch around. I see there are a few systems on eBay that look similar. Presumably they’re all pretty naff or perhaps not?

This one looks different to most and has good reviews:

I picked up a set from Amazon warehouse. The panel is a simple non-waterproofed one with a micro USB connection that plugs into a bulb with a built-in battery. Panel sits in the window with little direct sunlight falling on it. It's always charged and enough to find my way in my shed.

I also have a motion activated solar light for the outside so I can see the padlock etc. That's been really good.

This time of year when you most need the the wavelength of the suns' rays are pretty useless at recharging.

I know you said you didnt want to go 'big' but it is now so cheap, for others reading:

A reasonable condition car battery and a kit like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20w-Solar-Pa ... SwzkRdFSzY

that will power all sorts without spending on rather useless solar crap from amazon or B&M, Homebase etc. As soon as that stuff got wet, that was it no matter what was used to give it a bit of protection

The kit available now is starting to lead me to think that I can start to switch the the house lighting over to full LED/ solar powered this summer

Re:

Now that isn’t something I’d thought about. I’ve got plenty of 12V stuff knocking about after years of mucking around too. Even have an old outdoor lighting system I could reinstate...

This is not the simple yes / no advice I was looking for! Instead I can see myself being trapped in the shed for many more happy hours. Is there such a thing as a solar powered soldering iron?

I was wondering about that, given that modern LED lights are only about 10W for 60W incandecent lamp equivalent a car battery, or perhaps better a leisure battery for caravans and boats, should run a house load for quite a while.

Were you thinking of changing the lighting circuit over to 12v DC, or using an inverter and hooking the existing mains circuit up to that?
