Anyone using a chain with slotted links, e.g. kmc xsl with single chainring and a muti speed cassette?

1XN set up will put the chain through far bigger angles than 2x or 3x, so my concern is are the links which have had metal removed for the slots strong enough.

I suppose the answer is yes else kmc woukd not make them but i do wonder.....

Any failures of this type posted on the web?

Re:

I wouldn't worry about failures posted on the web as such.. after all if anyone's had a failure they'll probably be outraged and post about it; ignoring the thousands of non-failures people will be riding and NOT posting about..
(just like aluminium cranks, Cannondales, Nobby Nics, Carbon frames, etc..)

I've not used a slotted chain on a 1x setup, but there are some reviews which suggest that they do twist more (i.e when shortening it's harder to keep the holes aligned to re-insert the joining pin).
That might, conversely make it better for a 1x setup provided it doesn't stay bent! My (one!) slotted SRAM chain hasn't failed yet, but is on a 2x setup..

Re:

I run a slotted KMC X10 EL on mine and change every six months and ride every day and been fine on two different bikes. One used an 11-36 and now on an 11-40 and all good.

Re:

Same here, also a Clyde and slotted schains on 1x9, 1x10 and 1x11 set-ups all is well.

enjoy!!
