okay, so today, i got my leg back over my preston four, and its was nothing short of a revelation.....
having just purchased a Titus titanium, after the Salsa titanium, i thought the Titus would be the bees knees!
unfortunately, the old adage "size matters" was ringing loudly in my ears as it turn out the Titus is a little on the small side for me, a real bummer as it's an amazing frame, beautiful too, but my fault, i should have checked the dimensions properly
it's now for sale on the dreaded evilBay, and having removed the old rear pivot bearings this evening ready to replace them with shiny new ones, i realised that the supplied bearings were wrong....
that left me with no bikes built
enter stage right the preston.....
i decided to throw all my lovely 11 speed XTR on it and try it out, it had been a while!
well, instantly i felt at home on it, very comfy, a nice position, and very slick feeling.
but mostly, it struck me what a superb design the PRST-4 is, there is something about the synergy of using the same shock front and rear that gives it a poise that i've not noticed before with more traditional telescopic fork and rear shock set-ups, and i have the Titus to thank for that!
yes, it may be quirky looking, but with a modern groupset and some wider bars, the old preston really shines!
so, yes, size does indeed matter, and sometimes, it seems oldies are goodies!
