Singlespeed crankset on a P7 circa 97

I am looking for good value option for my singlespeed project. It currently has a square taper BB and shimano STX crank, which I can not convert. So just wondered what best option was, current thinking is buy a cheap square taper crankset, get the BCD and then buy a ring. Any other options? What would my BB choices be on a 1997 P7.

Any square taper crankset would do - personally I'd go for 5 arm 94mm BCD as I think that they look better, they provide better support to a SS chainring and there's loads of choice when it comes to 32 or 34T singlespeed chainrings in that size.

Basically, you can use any BB that you want (assuming the BB shell is 68 or 73mm x 1.37"?) square taper, ISIS, outboard - like HT2.
