Single speed? I don't get it! What's the point?

Basically I don't get single speed! What is the point in it? Surely mountain bikes are ment to have gears.

Can anyone tell me what the appeal is and try and change my mind?

yes its like walking in London, Copenhagen, Paris, NY and you see all the people with Gore-Tex climbing jackets, hiking boots etc... think they are trying to tell something...

Singlespeed - guess they are for mountain bikers wishing they had mountains...

Then I doubt you will. It's one of those things that is either in your blood, or you will never ever see the point or attraction of it.

If you're curious then give it a go (more than just once round the car park or your favourite trail), if you still don't get it then carry on and don't lose any sleep over it
