Show us your old CHEAP stuff!

I really want to see pics of those Ozarks! I remember a mate had one in '88 and I was so jealous because it was £30 more expensive than my Ridgeback (all important to a schoolboy) and had Exage Mountain kit on it instead of my Exage Trail.

I thought it was the most awesome bike I'd ever seen (Kleins, Cannondales and Merlins were just the stuff of magazines and you never actually expected to see one).

94 Townsend Beartooth.

Overbuilt out of steel almost in the entirety only alloy amongst the metal bits were the wheel rims.

Crashed that bike lots in and around Dundee, hooked for life and now here with you lot

Want another...........weirdo

Raleigh Mustang - motorbike size brake levers (you needed all the leverage you could get!), approximately 40lbs in weight and waaaaay too big for me.... Still managed to teach myself to wheelie on it though!!!

My first adult sized mountain bike was a Raleigh Maverick 5 speed (I couldn't afford the fifteen speed one). Then I "upgraded" to a Raleigh Mustang!

OK - Here be the Ozarks! The red and black one is my original one, owned from new and bought for the vast sum of £385 in 1987. The second one (red and white) is a spare parts donor (though I don't have the heart to break it) that I picked up a couple of years ago. There was a 1989 Ozark too but Raleigh changed their model line-up abruptly to a range with booze related names (Moonshine, White Lightning) so the third one is very rare.

My first MTB was an 'oversized' (overweight!) elevated chainstay monster by Leeways which I bought from the Kays catalog (Jesus this is the most embarassing thing I've ever told anybody     )

... Here they are.

Although it's hard to tell from the crap photo. This is me jumping my 1990 Ridgeback 601 SIS across one of the rivers in Bushey Park. That bike was as heavy as the moon.

And my mate on his slightly newer (92 maybe?) Marin Bear .... (I forget).

Cheap?

Hold your horses guys while I quote my friend Richard (the biggest queen that ever walked the streets).

"Darlings, we NEVER say 'cheap'. It's always 'Inexpensive'."

My first MTB - can't believe i'd actually forgotten about it! - was an early 90's pink Raleigh Mustang. My bro had a marauder in blue (with pink & yellow decals as i remember) and i think my dad had a black & white mustang...?
Awesome bikes, all far too big & heavy but just what you needed to get you hooked. Then came the Emmelle Classic & an Al Carter before my 1st Kona.

I quite fancy getting an old early 90's Raleigh & "Klunker" it up for pub/shop use.... yep, defo next project.
