Show us your (Marin) Boingers!

The original post was 29.5, I bought you a shim to 27.2 to make it easier...

If it's of any consolation my post slips too

Thanks. I appreciate greatly the work that went into putting my Mount Vision together, and I'm sure the time spent doing it isn't fairly reflected in the excellent price you sold it for.

I noticed the weird size of the original seat post - I imagine it would be very very hard to get a suitably long post in 29.5 these days! 27.2 is probably THE most easy to find seat post size, so it works out well.

I can't believe how fast one can ride downhill with full suspension - and how much the extra traction allows you to react and dodge obstacles.

Glad you're enjoying it :) I've always been really impressed by how well they climb. Hope you have lots more excellent rides with it :)

30.0mm was the pre 1999 size post for these frames. The 2000 model used a 27.0mm one. These are the only variants.

My shim is marked as 29.8 mm, but it is a rather snug fit in the seat tube and doesn't come out freely as I would expect if the seat tube was 30.0.

On the other hand, a slightly too thin shim might explain why Both LGF and my seat posts are slipping.

I have a 30mm seatpost from a Rift Zone you are welcome to: it's probably too short but it might help you confirm the correct size ( I am sure Benandemu is right ) and make sure that a 30mm won't slip.

My Rift zone is 27.2? year 2000.
