Here's mine. BoTM Mid-Range Special 2nd place.

Dawes Special Edition. Certificated No 10 of 250. Owned from new and returned to catalogue spec last year (except the tyres, should be continental baja supercross but just cannot find any!).

Re:

Ok here is my 1990 Raw Nerve. SLOWLY going back to factory spec - should have hopefully all original parts buried in my parents shed.....
Not quite up to bren’s Raw Nerve standard (post from a few years ago), but I love it and will be with me ‘till I die!

Re:

i like this a lot,not seen one in years. i worked at a Dawes dealership throughout the 1990s and from what i remember this was almost the same spec as The Edge. Reynolds 531 Magnum? LX/DX?
best of british :)

Cheers sheddweller - ha ha I used to drool over these in the Dawes catalogues around 1990 when I was a pre-spotty kid. Got this for a bargain price off a nice chap on the mid-wales coast back in ‘97 after some thieving g*t nicked my Dawes BackStreets hybrid outside my college. Did me a favour really as I never really liked it! Anywaaayy.... yup Raw Nerve: 531 magnum, 531 geomax front forks (will be going back on soon), 501 bars, pretty much deore DX everything else including hubs, pedals & groupset. Could be wrong but I THINK the only difference in spec between Raw Nerve and The Edge (apart from an extra nugget of kudos) was The Edge was XT throughout.
Will try and at least post pics when she’s finished.
Love that period around 89-91

I used to have a 24” wheel Dawes hardWARE mtb. On the look out for a 26” wheeled version if anyone knows of one.

Re:

My 1991 Dawes Back Track has a serial number 489.

This is odd because most bikes have alpha numeric serial numbers.

Were Dawes quite late to the MTB party?
