K-Rod, can't say I've found the rougher stuff bothers the 29" wheels at all Tbh, obviously any rigid bike will come unstuck in the rougher stuff, but with some suspension up front they can handle anything a 26" wheel can.

My first 29er after waiting nearly a year for the frame I was glad to get it built in February and love how it rides being 6'2"
It's quite heavy even tho it's quite basic with 8speed and a few retro parts.

Well those who know me know I love a 29er! It started as a curiosity about 3 years ago with the Marin CXR carbon 29er...that was a short lived love affair when it cracked big time! But the ride was awesome so I went on to get the Santa Cruz Highball. What a bike road and raced it for 2 years until the Travers turned up! Hand made Ti lovelyness in a 29er frame and thats where I am now, loving the 29er wheels. Retro bikes are great but not an everyday ride for me....

Here's my newly acquired rigid bike with 90s technology and 29 inch wheels, introducing the 'Megamo Tank':

With a mix of altus, Acera and Tourney TX (!), and a 3x8 drivetrain (the components are all suspiciously similar to STX, including the shifter windows), this bike has a major retro flavour. Heavy at 33 lb, but insanely fun off-road.
