Depends on use really:

Pace RC-35 - Look gorgeous but are elastomer so, not really much cop as sus forks.

Manitou 2/3 - Ditto.

RS Mag 21 - Work ok if you can find a good pair.

Having ridden bikes recently with all of the above i finally concluded that old sus forks are crap. My '96 Judy's with springs instead of elastomers are ok, but if you want to be period correct for '94 i'd stay rigid.

Cheers- should've pointed out I am not staying period correct- I am even thinking about getting disc tabs welded on if it goes for a respray- I'm looking for modernish forks that are as short a length as poss- sids maybe? Cant seem to find any info on fork lengths...

Really post 2002 or so the shortest fork would be an 80mm travel. So, lets say you frame would of taken a 63mm or less travel(giving a 439mm length fork) then you will affect the handling of the bike by puttin a 80mm travel fork on( approx 450mm or so). To be fair I'm not sure by how much, because it doesn't seem a lot, but I think it will make the head angle more relaxed giving a slightly less responsive feel.

FYI, the last 65mm travel for Pace did was the RC38 AirForce. Weighed 1395, Air sprung oil damped with remote lock out. IS disc mounts as standard.

Surely the SID has been adjustable from 63mm to 80mm right up to the latest model, which is the first to be 80/100? At 80mm travel, an SID is c450-455mm long, at 63mm it is c435-440mm.

You may be right, but my world only allows me to make assumptions according to Pace...... :D

Rockshox, Manitou and others I know nothing off. Pace's last 63mm for was 2002 and therefore that was the last 63mm travel fork ever.

There may be much in what you say - I've never been rich like what you must be, so I've never owned a Pace.

One thing I will say is that the earlyish Paces are classy-looking enough for any bike, and somehow look good on just about any frame. Whereas plenty of RS, Manitou and Marzocchi are in colours that clash and look naff with lots of frames. It's not just a black thing, it's also a carbon thing, I guess.

Thanks for that info- I thought it might be a Sid... will def. be keeping an eye out for some of those Paces tho :)
