shimano v brakes xtr or mini-v brakes required for build

doing up my mtrax 1000, changing the fixed forks to bomber (suspension jobbies from the 90's also)

meaning my cantilever brakes will not work. but I don't want to change the current alivio 7 speed integrated lever...just the brake bit.

after a little/lots of research it looks like a v brake conversion will work with a travel agent or possibly a mini v brake will bolt on.

haven't received forks yet but am already looking a what v brakes are about and any advice.

shimano XTR v brakes are nice/within reach and maybe some trekar mini v ?

anyone have at least the front laying around (with the travel agent) or advice comments ?
