SHIMANO M739 link fixing washer (MPN) Y8AA49000

Hello, this is my very first post on this forum!

For a Trek 930 Singletrack (1995) rebuild, I recently purchased a set of 4 Shimano Deore XT BR-M739 V-Brakes on eBay, which arrived with only 2 link fixing washers and no fixing bolts.

I still need 2 link fixing washers and they're 'as rare as hen's teeth', even on eBay Worldwide.

Does anyone on this forum have a couple of these washers they could give me/sell me?

Sorry - I don't have any to sell you. I'd been planning to buy a few sets next time I put in a small parts order to Madison. The Madison site seems to be down for updating; perhaps they'll be available again when the site goes back up.

I wonder if these washers and the bolts that go with them might be a candidate for remanufacture. They often seem to get lost.

As a workaround, I've discovered that SRAM disc caliper mounting bolts have an M6 thread, and a compact T25 torx head that clears the parallelogram of XT M739 brakes. The washer is slightly smaller than the Shimano equivalent, and the bolts lack the conical head profile of the Shimano originals, but they work well enough on the rear of the bike. I don't think I'd trust them on the front.

Titanium, and only £3 for four! The washers aren't pictured, but are included. Seller comes with my recommendation.

That's an excellent suggestion thank you for replying. I have found this forum really helpful when researching 20 year old Shimano parts for a couple of retro builds I have been working on.

One is a 1995 Trek 930 Singletrack (now complete) I owned one of the same frame size and colour from new but it was stolen in 1997 -pure nostlgia, but it has been fun to research and rebuild!

Now working on a 1987 Specialized Streestomper (which I bought s/h for £140.00 in 1987 and have been riding for over 30 years!

p.s. regarding the subject of the original post, I contacted the seller again and asked him to have another look for the missing parts in his shed. He duly obliged and kindly sent the missing bolts and washers - so I now have a full original set - phew!

TBH I think people selling these XT BR-739's on eBay without the Link Fixing Washer MPN: Y8AA49000 and Link Fixing Bolt MPN: Y8AA43000 should at least warn potential buyers that the bolts and washers are unique to the design of brake?

I agree that they should, but it may be that not every seller is aware that the correct items are special and hard to obtain.

I use flickr. I don't know that it's the best, but it works for me.
