Shimano Exage cones

Hi out there,
I have had a set of wheels in with my LBS for over 5 weeks, only to be told upon collection that they are unable to get cones in for my hubs....
So much for a cheap speedy fix...
I was wondering if anyone out there might know where to get some cones for a Shimano Exage HG50 rear hub?
The shop tell me they have tried everywhere and they simply don't exist anywhere anymore...but surely they do??? :|

If not, is there any way around replacing the cones or a work around? I don't want to rebuild the wheel - funds are low - but I would like to keep the hubs from disintegrating....

Any help or direction would be much appreciated...

I've been told the same by my LBS, re the equivalent front hub HB-RM50.
They've supplied some cones which are a close match, I'll keep you posted how well they work.
