Would a helicoil repair work?

Must it be Xt as I think I have a single
Left hand side sunroof xc pro thumbie somewhere? It’s the 3 speed shifter.

grahame - good idea although I believe they are plastic but will investigate further.
repacker - don't know how to request so will start a new thread and see if there is a repair option out there
jimbog - thank you and kind offer but they are on my Pace which is pretty much original so looking to keep it that way.

The clamp is alloy, but a helicoil would work either way.

I've see. Posts in the past where people have retapped the thread, either the same size or bigger, and used a larger bolt corresponding to the new thread size.

I can think of some other ways to work around the issue but whether they would be suitable for the thumbie mount or not is another thing entirely.

Wellcome to the club. You can thread a longer bolt, maybe shorter diameter. Those clamps are miserable against the varying diameters found on handlebars. Carbon ones are the worst offenders.
