Wanted Seatpost collar

Ok, well I can probably still help as I have all three of the sizes. For the most part though, I have complete wheels, but also several rims by themselves, but my main thought was trying to establish if you're after kit to be period correct with the 40s/50s bike you've been speaking of, or perhaps they would go with this bike but you'd just want vintage parts and the age isn't so important. I have separate rims but most of these are 70s/80s and 700c, and I have 40/50s complete wheels like Dunlop Special Lightweights. The 26" complete wheels I mentioned are a Constrictor alloy rimmed set, just unfortunate you want the larger sizes, but I thought you'd definitely be keen on them if perhaps the frame they'd be used in was designed for 26" wheels max size. I'll also take a guess that the brakes you'd consider for the bike would be from the 40s/50s eras. If this is the case then the first thing that comes to my mind would be a set of GB's "Hiduminium" model (not the actual model name, just what they've become known as!) from the 40s. You'll surely know of them, but just to clarify, they're the ones with the Hiduminium and Made in England writing inset in oval shapes along their fronts. And I think I also have matching brake levers to offer to make up the full brakeset. Of course I can send you some pics of anything, but before I go pulling things out of storage I thought I'd better get a better idea of what your requirements are and if you want something better than average quality/branded and what sort of cosmetic shape you'd be happy with, especially as a lot of the kit that's survived from these eras can be cosmetically 'challenged' compared to the more modern stuff:)

Thanks for all the thoughts, really appreciate:)
In reverse order, the brake-set, did you have a price in mind? The GB’s sound good, have used them before (levers and calipers) on a Holdsworth I recycled for family.
Components with patina are completely fine in my world, everything I have is ‘weathered’ lol and I’ve not a thing (virtually) you could describe as NOS on 20-odd builds.
I think I’m going to try and go for 700c rims to lace to the high-flange ‘50’s hubs the lovely Brane on hers sold me. So it’s going to be a non-authentic build but interesting for me nonetheless!

Righto, well I've had a good trawl through a few parts box bit didn't find all the parts I told you about, although I did find a few extra bits that might be of interest. Firstly, I only found one of the brake calipers mentioned, then I found two Superhood levers but non matching ones (think I have a second hooded one). I also turned up a pair of while GB branded hoods but they're different designs so I didn't bother photographing them, but if you like the sound of them I can take some pics. Finally, the above extra bits were a pair of CLB Alp brake levers from the early fifties. I also have some same era brake calipers (no photos) to go with these, although from memory they'd be different models to each other. But they are very similar looking so I thought I should mention them. I have the full set of GB brakes somewhere so obvs will find the other one before we discuss them further. I can't really consider a price for them yet until I have both brakes in front of me to properly evaluate condition etc. I'll also find the other GB brake levers (possibly with an extra set of the same age as the brake levers). Pics of the brake and x2 brake lever sets below:

Thanks, yes I do certainly have quite a collection of this older kit now- sadly though I find the frames harder to come by, so most of the time I don't build up the bikes and just have a surplus of nice kit not getting used:) Oh well, at least you'll be able to benefit from my situation. But regards the CLB kit, I'm glad you like the brake levers. I must admit these are some of the stars of my collection. And the same era/style brake calipers are also very nice. ATM though I can only lay hands on one of them, but see below for some pics to be going on with. I won't be able to evaluate everything for prices until I have everything in front of me to check the condition properly. From memory, the pieces are in very smart nick for their age, but with stuff this old it's best to be sure, as per what I was saying previously about the tatty cosmetics this older kit often has (I'm so used to it that it often slips my mind to remember condition of individual bits). Some other stuff to mention is that the caliper doesn't have it's original front nut any longer. It's quite a distinctively shaped one (adds to the looks IMO) but I might just have a spare one knocking around, I'll check. And whilst looking for the brakes I also managed to retrieve a set of alloy 50s Catos branded brake pads with shoes. These are probably as rare as the brakes and often replaced when the original ones wear out and the owners prefer not to take the trouble of fitting new pads into the shoes but replace the pad/shoe setups with one-piece brake pads instead, so you don't see them that often. Anyway, on the negative side they're not matching models and have different shapes so you might prefer just to keep the 70s/80s pads the brake is currently fitted with. So I didn't bother taking pics of them but will do so if they're of interest.

You seemed keen on the brake levers and possibly brakes too, but now there's no word from you? Shall I take the trouble of finding the other brake? I would have already have retrieved/photographed it except that it means quite a bit of running around due to it's being in a storage lockup I have on the other side of town, so obvs I'd prefer to know what's what before heading over there.

Hey fella, it’s all lovely stuff and I don’t want to put you to a load of botheration (I know how annoying it can be) as you’ve been so helpful - but do you have a price in mind as I need to be budget-conscious as a. job situation is a bit precarious and b. don’t want to waste your time (in the nicest way :)
Also, last few days have been a bit intense so apologies again for the radio silence.

Ok, well my idea was to work out a price for the whole brakeset, but as mentioned I thought it best to have both brake calipers examined before I could work out their price. But if you'd just want a price for the brake levers to be going on with, I have no issue with that. Although I hope their price wouldn't put you off because, as mentioned, these are some of the stars of my collection of this older kit. Looking at the sold prices for the levers on Ebay I think a fair price would be £40 for them, plus postage. I haven't yet researched prices for the brakes, but whatever I found they'll be even cheaper than what I've asked for the levers seeing as the brakes are slightly mismatched. But as funds are a bit tight for you then perhaps neither brakes or levers would be what you're seeking. Besides being rare, my ones are some of the nicest condition ones around, and I feel justify the price asked, but of course you did mention that tip top condition wasn't that much of a priority for you, but you'll have to decide. And there's also the other options of the GB kit.

That price is extremely fair for the levers I’d say, given what they are the nice condition
However I’m going to have pause, as am not sure I’ll have a job beyond the end of this month
If that pressure goes away I’ll be right back to buy if you don’t mind?
Sorry again for the botheration

Righto, whatever works for you. Just let me know what you want to do once you've found out about your job situation.
