at cash generator in trowbridge. were wanting £80.00 for it.

do you think that is a bit steep or about right (the bike looked ok from what i saw of it,but obvious paint chips e.t.c.

i was tempted tbh but ended up replacing my broken 360 slim instead.

bike is this model btw

i did have a wistful moment when i saw it (as my first proper mtb after my 88 dawes ascent was a 1992 eldridge grade). it did look pretty original from the quick glance i did on it.

am hoping it might still be there in a fortnight's time when i can hopefully buy it/convert it to ss do it all bike :)

p.s good to post here again, has been a while.

If the drivetrain is in good working order I think that's fair. Prices sink to around £75 or so for mechanically sound bikes regardless of brand - suitable for transport. Check the BB and headset bearings and chian wear. If the chain is worn then the cassette could well be shot. Fortunately they had steel chainrings which are unlikely to be worn.

Re:

I think £80 is a bit too much unless it's mint to be honest. I'd expect to pick up a reasonable Bear Valley / Eldridge standard for that.
