These are my everyday bikes. 2000 Santa Cruz Bullit and 1995 Mountain Goat Joule. I've never really considered them 'retro' and they're certainly not 'project' bikes but I've lost count of the people who laugh at me for still running V-brakes on a Bullit!
I bought the Bullit as a robust 'cross country with some mucking about' bike after snapping a Voodoo Canzo ESP on a BMX track (a case of too much ambition, not enough talent and really poor timing).
The Mountain Goat has been a race bike, a hardtail fun bike, stolen, recovered, and now built as a commuting bike (not that I ever actually get around to commuting on it).
Rich.
