Saddle, 'bar tape and cable colours - help needed

Thanks for all the replies. I hadn't considered mixing black and white but now you mention it.....

Also, blue could work but I'd want the saddle and 'bar tape to match and that could be tricky. I did have blue 'bar tape at one time as shown below but without a matching saddle it just looked a bit odd I thought.

I'll probably end up flipping a coin to decide!!!

Nooooooo!!! Don't give me more choices. I've never ridden a Concor - always been a Turbo man myself. Have to admit though it didn't look too bad on a quick mock-up I did.

So look for a blue Turbomatic, they do exist. I have them in black, blue, yellow, orange and green all from Fleabay. In fact, there's a red one and a yellow one on at the moment, albeit at seriously optimistic prices. My cream painted Olmo is fitted with the blue one, take a look at it here but please forgive me for the tyres, now fitted with Gatorskins that look much better http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=139046&sid=49e1cde36a6eb5cc725d0e191697b732

Sweet bike Mark.

Black saddle/white tape be a tidy option with saddle either Rolls or Turbo and tape Cinelli cork (to my mind Turbomatics are great saddles but are too 'busy' for this and possibly too late although I'm unsure on the latter point).

I'm the last person to ask regarding style though.

Blue

Blue tape for sure with a blue/black saddle. It doesnt have to look like some chunky 70's saddle either.
I dont quite understand the brown thing with bar tape. i have only seen a select few that it actually looks decent on otherwise it seems to be the latest trendy thing :p
Saddles I dont mind if it suites especially on a tourer but the brown leather bar tape ➡️ (insert vomiting smiley)
Remember these are my opinions and can change with time...........and threats of violence ;)

Thanks for the compliment, "Dac" is all embarrassed now. I agree about the blue TurboMatic style-wise and date wise - it just wouldn't look right. I have a TurboMatic 2 on my main bike which used to be on the Daccordi and is very comfy but again a bit too modern. However, practicality might win over correctness (like with the headset) and a used TurboMatic 2 might find it's way onto the bike after all.

Good points Jamie, I'm no fan of brown either. Like you I have seen it look good on a couple of bikes, usually classic old tourers in nice British Racing Green.
