RR Sprint Sizing?

I have a 1983 JPS Special black and gold Raleigh Record sprint with a 21'' seat tube. The top tube is 22.5'' long and at my height of 5'7'' a little stretched out!

According to the catalogue specs of the time the smallest size the RRS was available in was 21'',but was there a choice in top tube length I wonder?

Does anyone out there have one of these with a 21'' seat tube and a top tube shorter than 22.5''?

All the Black and Gold raleighs I've ever seen were HUGE! A 21" one could be a rarity! I doubt if they were made with anything but a 'standard' top tube length as they were a relatively basic frame in the Raleigh hierarchy.

I think you are right there is no reference in the old catalogue to a choice of top tube lengths just three basic sizes, 21'' being the smallest.

Of course,in those days bike fit was a fairly alien concept, one just adjusted the height of the saddle and off you went!lol
