Too many forks means something has got to give (I keep buying fork projects lately) and it is these lovely ladies called Judy.
XC lowers with canti bridge
SL bolts and crown/steerer (alloy steerer 200mm+)
New (new old stock) damper fitted
Springs now reside where the elastomers used to live
I rebuilt these recently with parts I had and parts I bought, and have created what is effectively a Judy SL with a spring conversion, using Judy XC lowers. In pretty good cosmetic shape as the pics show, with one patch of clear coat peeled on one lower, and a few small marks elsewhere, that's about it.
On doing all the bolts up I noticed that one of the bridge/brace bolts doesn't tighten fully, so will need to be helicoiled or similar, but it is one of four bolts and the brake boss bolt is the main load bearing one so should be fine. That said, I am also including a full set of Judy SL lowers in the sale, as you might want to swap these over for colour reasons (or as above). One of the SL legs has a small hole in it though, possibly deliberately created as a drain hole (I read about this somewhere) and is very small. I would have filled with fibreglass and touched up if I were keeping them.
Pics show the rebuild, so you can see the full condition of the fork, what was used to put it together, the widget I made from some Judy spring rate adjusters to join the two sections of spring together (pretty much the same as the original part (I have a spare set if you want pics), just not in two halves, which I joined using a stainless steel pin). All surfaces were cleaned and where needed, Pace grease applied (bushings, sliders and seals) and all bolts fitted with anti-seize grease). In my view, these are lovely forks, and you are also getting a full set of SL lowers too, so I think all in all a bargain tastic lot of Judy stuff for just £65 posted to your door. Just think how much a spring conversion and new damper would cost you alone
Any questions, or if you need more pics, just let me know.
