Got this as a well used frame and fork only, it has most of the original paint and all original decals.

I think it is an 87. Serial Number is 8C146. It is an 18 inch

Some of the original paint scheme of red and white fade was chipped so it really couldn't be matched that well with a touch up. Combined with the fact that I really can't bring myself to repaint a bike and most of the original paint was still there I decided to have some fun with it and just touch it up with some contrasting colours.

I have decided to call the paint scheme 'chipoflauge'.

It looks interesting in person and since I use this often, now I don't worry about getting additional chips on it because I can just continue to touch them up.

For the rebuild I used all build correct and period correct parts, with the exception of tires (Ritchey Cross Bite) and pedals (MKS 2000 Graphite). Cable ends still need cutting and soldering but I am riding it. I had an original fillet brazed Ritchey bullmoose bar that was an exact red colour match. So I fitted that to it.

Most of the components are Shimano XT - M730 Series
Seat Post: Suntour XC
Seat: Turbo yellow
Rims: Mavic Rando M5 with XT hubs
Grips: Grab On

Re:

Lovely bike Rocco, don't get to see then in the smaller sizes very often :)

raidan73 - Thanks Adrian - Yes it fits me very well.

RockiMtn - Yes it is a one of a kind. Not another one for sure, my wife says it looks like it has a disease. I had fun with it and preserved as much of the original paint as I could.

I get lots of stares - smiles when riding it. The bike guys at the LBS's really like it a lot. It looks great in person.

I have a hard time removing original paint from an old bike. The touch up paint can be removed easily so someday if a new owner wants to restore it, at least they have some the original paint to work with.
