I've a pair of M900 hubs that I want to build up. Now BITD I never really paid any attention to the different rim specifications, pretty much wheels were wheels. So what would be a good rim to build up a pair of XTR hubs with? Probably erring to the lighter rather than the sturdier side. What wheels did you build up BITD, period correct is not majorly important but if there are any recommendations for a mid/late 90's build all the better.

For a lighter and still a rather stiff rim I would say Matrix Titan. At 365g very light for a retro rim..

..some people worry about tires getting of, 'cause it's only 19mm wide, but I never had a problem with that.. neither had a friend of mine who was 'proffesionally' (as far as that was possible BITD ;) ) racing with these rims.

I had a wheelset build up with 'm. Front hub Hügi Compact, rear hub Tune MAG (without any number, it was one of the first tune hubs ever... directly from Uli himself).

I keep an eye on this post... I'm still looking for the right rim for my 1995 Ibis with all USA parts...

^ What he said.....and... Araya Team 395s are really nice..dead tough and dead light. .....as are Araya RM17s.. Was partial to Campag Mirox BITD...but you may struggle to find them.

Mavic 230s are pretty light - build 'em well they'll be ok, strength wise, so long as you're not that heavy and putting them through a lot of grief. I've got some 238s too, and they're reasonably light, but seem a bit later than 230s or 231s.
