Hi all,
A couple of weeks ago I was given an old bike by a friend. It was filthy but functional; I had intended to use it at work but decided I'd have a go at restoring it instead!
I've started to strip and clean up some of the bits (mechs and brakes so far) and was wondering if anyone has any info about the bike- e.g. date of manufacture, original spec etc.
The bike is a Ridgeback Romany, it's a steel hardtail with a rigid fork and is what I'd class as a hybrid - MTB-type setup but with narrow semi-road tyres.
I'll stick some photos on when I get home but the rest of the bike is described below:
Frame and fork are finished in a dark greenish grey metallic paint, the handlebar is flat with a faded red-with-white-speckles finish (haven't cleaned it up yet so they may well just be paint overspray lol).
The bike has Deore DX thumb shifters, and old-looking Deore LX mechs (M550 I think?). Brakes are Shimano SLR cantis with matching SLR levers. Chainset is Deore LX and I can't remember what the wheels and tryes are!
Cheers,
Jonny
