It is indeed a great event. Done it twice in 2012 and 2013. Doing the Anjou Velo Vintage with my wife instead this year, same weekend and a prettier area than Vlaanderen for a long weekend away.
Next year Eroica Hispania in the Rioja... on paper looks as awesome and epic as the real one in tuscany, which unfortunately is getting too crowded and expensive for my likes.
Dang! You're really making things difficult for me! I need to prepare a bike this weekend, and I had just about decided to get my Locomotief ready, but I did acquire a Vittorio Strada recently in my size as well ...
Having done the 'real' thing on a Harry Hall a few years back, I'm all softened up for a more genteel summer version on this Cannondale tourer. No doubt flouting some regulation or other, I'll idle at the back in the knowledge that my period panniers (and low, low gears) will contain suitable pick-me-ups for those darker moments...
The main purpose of this visit however is to acquire a man-sized vintage cyclocross fork in 1" (and perhaps a loose cobble for the mantelpiece).
I intent to go to Oudenaarde on Sunday with my oldest bike and a copy of the great Irish man - It's from end of 80s, so I hope they will let me take part - What's your opinion about my intention to ride with such a bike - it's nearly full French
only saddle and tires are Italian (I have 19 mm Wolbers tubulars too, but they are no puncture prevention and so rare)
