Hi, that looks like an interesting summer project you have there, with a family history, should keep you busy!
The Brooks saddle looks like the original 1960's item, maybe a B15 or B5N. If you remove it and check the corners of the cantle plate on the underside (the steel curved plate to which the rivets are attached), you'll likely find a letter and 2 numbers e.g. 67 B. That gives you the year, and I think the letter (A, B, C, D) relates to the quarter (not certain on that.)
Armed with that, check the Raleigh and Sun catalogues online, and also EBay bikes-for-sale, see if you can match up the frame/forks, and ultimately the exact model of bike.

Thanks for the advice I will nip out to the Garage and see what I can find on the saddle.

If for example it does say 67B, am I safe to assume I am looking for the 67 catalogue?

Aye! 1967 or possibly 68, Raleigh tended to get deliveries in bulk.
P.S. Brooks didn't stamp all their canticles :shock: ,hopefully you'll be in luck!

So I’ve wandered out to the garage can’t find much in the way of date only two marking I can find at a quick glance are in the photos attached.

Hi there, here's a couple of pics of a 1965 Brooks B15 Narrow I used to own. You can possibly just about make out the 65 stamped between the last 2 rivets on the right-hand side of the cantle plate.
It's possible your saddle wasn't stamped by Brooks, I understand not all were unfortunately.

Thanks for the tip! Literally just ran out to the garage and grabbed the seat ( which is coming up lovely) , quick bit of elbow grease and .... drum roll .... D65!!

I believe from others comments that this means it is from the 4th quarter of 1965??
