I would like to know other people's opinions on whether I should respray my 1995 Kona Explosif in the original Metalic Rosso Red/Burgundy or just choose something else. Will be looking to sell the restored bike in the future and don't want to put potential buyers off

If you're looking to sell I wouldn't bother with a repaint as you'll be lucky to get your money back unless you can do it yourself to pro standard or have a pal that will do it for buttons.

A respray before sale implies 'covering-up' (I'm not suggesting you are, that's just how buyers will see it) unless it's a good enough job to pass as original.

I haven't voted as normally I'd say do it the original colour if you get the exact same one.
But IMHO the burgundy colour was horrible, so do it a different colour in this case :p
What about the metallic green from a year or two before?

I should have made it clear I intend to have the frame proffesionaly powdercoated or wet painted. This will depend on colour match and if there is a way of protecting the new decals if applied after powder coating or stick with traditonal paint and laquer? Durability, price and forum opinion will decide what happens next. I will be keeping this bike for a while and riding it as I love it so much, I just want to protect its value and don't want to damage it's authenticity too much.

Your opinions are appreciated.

Why do you need to spend all that money for no gain?
If you want to protect its authenticity, leave well alone!
Add that to the poll as a third option. Dare ye!

Unfortuneately some patches of paint have worn away completely and touch ups are not going to protect it from rusting any more.

Whatever colour you LIKE IMO. Changing ones mind about "I'll keep it forever" is not unknown, so photo it now and when stripped of all paint so that you can show was worth repainting should you come to sell it!

I at least avoid repaints unless I KNOW what it is like underneath (I've known expensive, professional, renovations be rust buckets beneath).
