Repack DH course

Enjoyed that.

I think he might have been underestimating the skills of the old masters though if he thought he'd just stroll up on a modern bike and smash the times! I'd imagine if a young Gary Fisher, Joe Breeze or Otis Guy could ride a modern bike they'd still be top of the table, or near as dammit!

Yep, a fast rider is a fast rider regardless.

Really enjoyed the read. I was in Marin country some 10 years ago, and really I found the fire road trails fast. Thrilling as it should be,
but god damn the lump of a Kona FS I hired didn't allow me to go all out when I had plain full sight ahead.

No question about it BITD, they engineered and re-engineered the bike from what was available for that competition and
of course the pilots were something special too. They were doing something incredibly right.

I'm convinced a modern bike is not at all engineered in the same vain and with such a precise goal as doing that one stretch of trail.

40 years of technology and no jeans gets you 6 seconds. That‘s heart warming.

modern tyre pressures so low? @Repack Rider were tyre pressures important BITD? What was your secret?

We have a few people here active who did these runs in the seventies. I really love to hear their view.

Perhaps peddling too out of the corners with something more than a piddly 32T up front? Just a wild guess.
