Remember first MTB event

Was looking at some old photos, forgot one of the first events I did was Polaris MTB Challenge 1991 just found the window sticker they sent with entry new and never used, around same time Or year before I did Man v Horse v Bike and some other early events any one else do or remember them.

remember the events but alas never entered. my first race was an inter schoolboys series at newnham park in plymouth. did okay as a team and won our age group....a certificate lol. remember thinking this was alright, may do a few more.............this was back in 1991 iirc on my appollo atomic!!everyone else was on nice shiney claud butlers, gt's etc and i still get the same buzz now, especially when you overtake folk with loadsa expensive kit giving it all talk lol

My first event was a local mtb race , around '92 . Borrowed a clubmates Rockhopper as I didn't have a mountain bike .
Rode the race wearing trainers ! :facepalm: Did ok though but didn't get my own mtb 'til '97 .

1988 (I think!) in Pontypool, Wales (I also think!). I won the Juniors and a Ground Control tyre The event was sponsored by Caratti who imported Specialized but I can't remember the name of the race.

I'm just to the right of center in the white rimmed glasses (the chromed wrap-arounds that the guy on the left is wearing are soo rad!)

Great shots above... My first race was 88 or 89 in Waco Texas. I know I have a pic somewhere, still have the race number and finishing ribbon framed up in my office I remember I was so self conscious about wearing bike shorts I wore regular shorts over them!

Yes the North Yorkshire moors was the first one, l was there with my mate. I remember riding past the golf balls radars on filing dale moor, and a check point on whitby seafront lite house

I did a few events around Devon early 90s, centred around Woodbury common mostly. First big event was watching a round of the world cup in Newnham park, i think 94. Tomac was there signing autographs after all the other riders had gone home.
