Purchased a bike with the rear mech attached like this

Guy I bought from said I need a hanger for the mech but he couldn't find one to fit. Anyone shed some light on the correct part??
I think the bike is late 80's though I can't find any info on the bike apart from the banana model.
Also I'm not sure if I'm keeping the current cassette or moving down to keep the bike original and go with a six speed on the rear,not sure if the current mech was specific to this bike or not. Is there a way to tell to how many gears the rear mech would work with? It's got down tube shifters which have a switch between indexed and friction if that makes a difference? It's a double up front also.
